The Importance of Caring (Or Why We Started Love Payroll Limited)

There is something I’ve noticed over the years.

Nobody seems to care about payroll.

Now, before my fellow payroll professionals start throwing calculators at me, let me explain.

Businesses care about sales.

They care about marketing.

They care about winning new clients.

They care about growth.

They care about profits.

Payroll?

Payroll is often treated like the forgotten middle child.

Not important enough to get much attention.

Not exciting enough to be talked about.

Just expected to quietly get on with its job in the background.

And that’s exactly why Love Payroll Limited was born.

After nearly 30 years working in payroll, I became increasingly frustrated by the number of businesses and providers who seemed to view payroll as a simple transaction.

A process.

A task.

A button to press once a month.

But payroll isn’t any of those things.

Payroll is people.

Behind every payslip is a person.

Someone paying a mortgage.

Someone paying rent.

Someone trying to save for a holiday.

Someone buying school uniforms.

Someone putting food on the table.

And that means every line on a payslip matters.

Every deduction.

Every pension contribution.

Every hour worked.

Every overtime payment.

Every tax code.

Every pound.

At Love Payroll Limited, we genuinely care about every single item that appears on a payslip.

Not because we’re obsessed with paperwork.

Although there may be a little bit of that.

But because we understand what payroll means to the people receiving it.

We Don’t Put People In Boxes

One of the things that surprises many of our clients is how much we actually talk to them.

Apparently, this isn’t always the norm.

We’ve heard stories of payroll providers who insist that information is submitted in a very specific format.

A particular spreadsheet.

A particular template.

A particular font.

Perhaps not quite “submitted in Aptos Body font or it won’t be processed”…

But sometimes it feels dangerously close!

The reality is that every business works differently.

Every client operates differently.

Every payroll has its own quirks.

And that’s okay.

We’re not interested in forcing clients into a box that suits us.

We’re interested in finding a process that works for them.

Because payroll should support a business.

Not create more work for it.

Sometimes People Just Need To Talk

Another thing we’ve learned is that sometimes people simply want to ask a question.

A real question.

To a real person.

Not submit a support ticket.

Not wait three days for a response.

Not search through a knowledge base.

They just want somebody to explain what’s on their payslip.

Why their tax changed.

Why their pension contribution looks different.

Why their net pay isn’t exactly what they expected.

That’s why our clients have our telephone numbers.

That’s why they have our email addresses.

That’s why we’re available to talk.

Because sometimes a two-minute conversation solves what could otherwise become a two-day worry.

Payroll Isn’t About Processing

This is probably the biggest difference between Love Payroll Limited and many other payroll providers.

We’re not here simply to process payroll.

We’re here to look after it.

To care about it.

To understand it.

To make sure it’s right.

To make sure employees are paid correctly and on time.

Every single payroll.

Every single pay period.

Every single time.

Because that’s the bit that matters.

At the end of the day, payroll isn’t about software.

It’s not about spreadsheets.

It’s not about systems.

It’s about trust.

Employees trust they’ll be paid correctly.

Employers trust that payroll is being handled properly.

And we take that responsibility seriously.

Why We Care

The simple answer?

Because somebody should.

Payroll might be the forgotten middle child in many businesses.

But not in ours.

At Love Payroll Limited, payroll is what we do.

It’s what we love.

It’s why we started the business in the first place.

We wanted to create a payroll bureau that genuinely cared.

One that treated clients like people rather than reference numbers.

One that answered the phone.

One that explained things in plain English.

One that understood that behind every payroll run are real people relying on us to get it right.

Because whilst payroll may not be the most glamorous part of a business…

It might just be one of the most important.

And if you’re trusting somebody with your payroll, shouldn’t they care about it as much as you do?

At Love Payroll Limited, we do. And that’s the difference.
